Backdraft

The story tells about the men and their ghastly fury as the novice firefighter tries to gain respect for his older brother and other firefighters while he is involved in a series of arson and murder. The film seems to have a real look at the suffering that firefighters face, particularly naturally occurring in the area of fireworks and other influences.

February 05, 2008 Visually speaking, the film does pretty well with fire-as-spectacle, less well with everything else (Howard tends to trot out fuzzy-toned Spielbergian backlighting on any pretext).
