Cell is the ultimate creation of Red Ribbon scientist Dr. Maki Gero. It is an artificial life form (referenced as an android, though not being an actual robot) created from the cells of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza and King Cold. In the present timeline, Cell was killed in his baby form when Future Trunks and Krillin retrieved the blueprints of Androids #17 and #18 from Dr. Gero's lab to destroy it afterwards. In the future timeline, Cell killed Trunks to use his time machine and absorb #17 and #18 in the past. Cell is first seen in the anime when confronted by Piccolo. After going through a lot of cities and absorbing a considerate number of beings, Cell found #17 and #18, #16 being with them. In this first encounter, #17 escaped from absorption after #16 confronts Cell. Eventually, Cell absorbs #17, and evolves into his second form. #18 was then saved from this fate by Tenshinhan, who fought Cell nearly to death and let #18 and #16 run away. During his chase for #18, Cell met Vegeta, who easily defeated him with his new Super Saiyan powers. However, Vegeta thought it would be more challenging to fight Cell in his perfect form, and helped him absorb #18. Cell managed to achieve his Perfect form, and easily outpowered Vegeta. Trunks stepped in to fight, but he is also defeated, yet he did not kill them. Cell then planned to make his own version of the Tenkaichi Budokai (World Martial Arts Tournament), called the Cell Games .The Z Fighters entered the Cell Games, along with the present World Martial Arts Tournament champion, Hercule, along with some of his disciples. Cell fought Hercule first, beating him just with one hit. Cell then called Goku forward, to be his next opponent. Cell and Goku fought equally, but later on, Goku gave up, and told Gohan to fight next. Cell fights Gohan, but he seemed to be no opposition for Cell. After learning that Gohan's true power came from his rage, Cell destroyed #16, and sent 7 Cell Jrs., which he gave birth through his tail and were as powerful as the original Cell, to attack the Z Fighters in an attempt to enrage Gohan. Gohan's rage made him turn into a Super Saiyan 2. His powers exceeded Cell's, and easily defeated him, to the point of making Cell vomit #18, causing him to devolve into his second form. Cell used an ultimate technique, inflating himself and planning to blow up the Earth. Goku intervened and used Instant Transmission. Goku took Cell to King Kai's planet, in which he blew up, killing Goku, King Kai and his pets.Cell absorbed Goku's cells after blowing up, achieving a power far beyond his Perfect form. He used Instant Transmission to return to Earth and killed Future Trunks. Gohan fought him in vain. Cell finally planned to destroy the Earth, and attacked Gohan with a Kamehameha. Gohan responded to the attack, and with the aid of Vegeta and Goku's spirit, he destroyed Cell.Cell is sent to Hell, where he befriended Frieza. Both of them began spreading chaos in Hell, and Goku along with Pikkon are sent to stop them. Pikkon uses his power to easily defeat them. Later on, Cell escapes from Hell during the Janemba incident, but is defeated once again by Gohan. Long after this, Goku, who had already been turned to a kid, is trapped in Hell when Dr. Gero and Dr. Myu created Super 17. Cell came to fight him along with Frieza, and were defeated by Goku. This was the last time Cell appeared in the anime. Show less «
