Raiko Danielle Bowman was born into a large southern family in Mississippi. At a young age, her family moved to Florida. After graduating from Episcopal High School, she attended the University of Alabama to study Journalism. By her sophomore year, she took a break from her studies to travel, work and pursue interests in the performing arts.While traveling and training in New York, Atlanta and Florida, she began acting in improvisational theatre, commercials and independent films. A highlight came when Raiko played the lead in the notable indie short film, "VEER!" directed by Patrick Barry. The film was nominated for an award and premiered in the Gen Art Film Festival in New York City.She soon booked comedic and dramatic roles in television and film such as the HBO Original Series, "Eastbound and Down" starring Danny McBride and in the feature film, "The Hunger Games" directed by Gary Ross. Raiko played Peeta's Mom, the villainous mother of Peeta Mellark, actor Josh Hutcherson.After the release of The Hunger Games, Raiko took a break from acting to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree for writing in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University in New York.
