Toronto-based actress Madeleine Bisson was discovered by Palme d'Or winner, Laurent Cantet ("The Class"), who was looking to put together the perfect cast for his adaptation of the Joyce Carol Oats novel, "Foxfire," about a group of young girls in 1950s upstate New York who form their own gang.Bisson was chosen from over 1,000 girls in an open casting call to play the role of Rita, a sweet and vulnerable young woman who is preyed on by predatory men and becomes the impetus for the creation of the "Foxfire" gang.Born in Etobicoke, Ontario, now based in Toronto, Bisson always knew that acting was in her blood, performing on stage at a Church's basement at just age ten. "It was love at first sight," she remarks. Bisson would later go on to study Theatre Performance at the University of Toronto, a highly competitive program that requires students to re-audition every year, leaving only ten graduates by the end of the final year. Her training had prepared her well for the improv that was used both during auditions and the filming process for "Foxfire." Bisson's performance grew raves in North America, as well as Europe. She also appeared as a guest star on CBC's "Cracked," a role that was heavily based on Amanda Todd, a teenager who had been cyber bullied and ultimately committed suicide. She will also be seen in the season finale of Global's "Remedy," and musical film "Bang Bang Baby" alongside Jane Levy and Peter Stormare.Known for her impeccable sense of style and passion for fashion, the red haired actresses, draws inspiration from vintage design, while combining them with a modern twist. She draws inspiration from fashion designers like Kate Spade, Topshop, FCUK, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and jewellers like House of Harlow, Tiffany's, and Anne Sportun.During the Toronto International Film Festival, the National Post has singled her out alongside stars like Winona Ryder and Olga Kurylenko for her glittering emerald-green sequin outfit at the premiere of "Foxfire" and both Italian Vogue and Marie Claire Spain picked her as Best Dressed at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
