Born in Schenectady, New York, Dorothy graduated from Hofstra University with the incredible class of 1981. After spending a number of years living and working in New York City, she met her husband Terry Platt and moved to Massachusetts. She was the Artistic and Managing Director of The Actors' Center in So. Boston; and worked for seven years as the Director/Designer of the children's drama program for the Boston Public Library. Dorothy received the Amoco Award for Excellence for her performance as Pearl in Ray Lawler's Summer of the Seventeenth Doll; and the "Best Supporting Actress in an Ensemble" I.R.N.E. for her run of back-to-back performances as Flora Meagan in Tennessee Williams' 27 Wagons Full of Cotton and Stepan Stepanovich Chubukov (the father) in Chekhov's A Marriage Proposal in an evening of one-acts.
