Raised in North Bay Ontario, Chris Farquhar began performing magic at a young age. Influenced by David Copperfield, he began putting on shows for birthdays, malls, schools, staff functions and pretty much anyone and everyone who would hire him. Throughout his high school years, Chris became more and more interested in acting. He was amazed at how his experience with performing magic assisted his ability to act. At the age of fifteen, Chris received the opportunity most kids his age would only dream of. Chris was asked to perform a magic show at the home of one of his favorite actors! It was none other than Mr. Dan Aykroyd. Obviously a huge star, the Blues Brother, Conehead, Ghostbuster was extremely down to earth and very kind to Christopher. After the show, the young magician had a great conversation with Aykroyd and left his Kingston, Ontario home with a letter of reference from the actor and a huge smile on his face! This experience was a huge reason why Chris became even more interested in acting. Believing that his ability to please people with his magic tricks, and charm, could open doors to possible success in the entertainment industry. As Aykroyd told him, "Magic and acting are in the same family. When you're on stage performing magic, you're acting. Why choose one? Do both!" That's exactly what Chris decided to do. After high school, he moved out to Victoria, B.C. to attend the Victoria Motion Picture School to take an intensive film/television acting program. It was the best choice he could have made. Only a few short months after arriving in Victoria, Chris attended an open casting call for a new Sci-Fi television series called, "Alienated" for Space: The Imagination Station. The initial casting call, quickly turned into a second then a third audition, until he ultimately landed the role as Nick Morten. The role was Chris' first professional acting job. The show itself was an off-beat type, based on a family abducted by aliens and how their day to day lives are affected by the symptoms of alien abduction. Chris' role was that of the father's boss at a radio station! The television show lasted only two seasons. But the role of Nick Morten was only needed for three episodes. After filming the episodes that his role called for, Chris finished his program at the Victoria Motion Picture School and moved back to Ontario. In order to generate the funds necessary to be able to live comfortably in Toronto or Vancouver for acting, Chris developed an illusion show to travel across Canada with. He did a few short tours through Ontario to Manitoba and Alberta, performing in small auditorium-like venues for varied audience sizes. Having spent a little more on the show than he ended up making back, Christopher ended up washing cars for a year in North Bay, at his fathers car dealership. Chris now lives in Toronto, as he continues to pursue a full-time career in film and television acting. Landing the odd commercial and other bit-part acting roles, Christopher is extremely happy to have the support of his loving family. Show less «
